Camera shy insurance companies

Most consumers think about investing in travel insurance when they go on holiday but policies often have a limit on the amount that can be claimed per item.
According to Trusted Reviews, many companies single item limit on insurance is as low as £300, which would not provide cover for more valuable items such as cameras.
Cliff Smith of Trusted Reviews said: "Taking holiday snaps is as much a part of the holiday experience as sunburn and dysentery, so naturally you'll want to take a camera.
"Most standard travel insurance will barely cover the price of a decent compact with a large memory card, and certainly won't cover a digital SLR and lenses."
Some insurance providers offer additional cover for items of a higher value but, says Mr Smith, this can reach only £700 which still may not provide adequate protection for expensive equipment.
Specialist camera insurance companies could be a solution and would provide cover for keen photographers planning to go abroad.
