Camera stolen that contained pictures of Prince William and Kate Middleton
4th September 2008
The person who owns the digital camera that contained photographs of Prince William and his girlfriend, Kate Middleton on holiday may be wishing they had purchased camera insurance.
According to the Sun newspaper, the camera was stolen from a car in London and about an hour later the paper said it received a call from two men about the photos.
They were asking for £50,000 in return for the pictures and had claimed that they found the intimate snaps after discovering a memory card left in the gutter.
Police said they had arrested a man on Sunday "on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and handling stolen goods".
It was not known whether or not the owner of the digital camera had camera insurance.
There were reportedly more than 40 photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton holidaying in Mustique and the Associated Press reported that "intimate pictures of the pair" would have been "highly prized".
